You might not have heard of it but the Germans have an awesome tradition where they decorate trees with eggs at Easter. You might have seen photos of trees with 20, maybe 30 eggs on them however this one family decorated this year's Easter tree with 10,000 colored and patterned eggs! Volker and Christa Kraft (and family) from Saalfeld have been creating their Osterbaum / Eierbaum / Ostereierbaum (German for an egg decorated Easter tree) annually since 1965 and we are sure you'll agree that it's epic!

The family began in 1975 with just 18 Easter eggs.
By 1994 they had progressed to 350 eggs!
A beautiful yet somewhat blank canvas.
This is what 10,000 eggs in storage looks like.
Christa Kraft lovingly prepares and decorates some of the eggs.
The couple's daughter Gabriela Rumrich is the amazingly talented painter behind this collection of eggs.
This egg is beautifully jeweled. See how it shines in the daylight.
This one looks like it was decorated with broken eggshells.
So much work must have gone into painting every single one of these eggs.
Originally Kraft began with plastic eggs however every one he used on this tree was real!
The tree looks magical in the snow.
We wonder what the Kraft family does with all these eggs after Easter.
Mr Kraft putting the finishing touches to the tree.
The beautiful Easter tree draws tourists from far and wide every year. It's such a pity that this was the last ever year the Kraft family would create it. Who knows? Maybe someone else will create Easter 2016's Easter tree and keep the tradition alive!
