Change the currency from dollars to Pounds….which one would you choose?

    • Juan Garcia

      Dollars, So much cheaper.

    • Felicia Allen

The value of a dollar is less than GBP, your right. You would get it for less if you had GBP.

    • Will Hayes

click more info and its £1.900 GBP

£1600 GBP on here but £1900 on amazon how do they work that! x

    • Lauren Mckenna

      its 1.600 GBP

    • Paul Curran

this is due to taxation,if you buys this you will have to pay your VAT on import + Duties owed depending on how UK customs define it (that can be from 0-12.5%), so you can buy cheaper in US dollars but will still get taxed on it, so be aware people…

I really went to buy this but your web site/ link puts the price up by £300 to £1900, no chance now, It would seem that this price is just a way to con people into going to that site! ALSO….
This one and The one you link to is a different (uglier) make which is also different make to the ugly USA $$ one – neither are this sleek looking machine! Makes USA = -Afinia and UK is a – UP! Plus brand.
The brand of the one shown is a 3D CUBE from Solid Technologies starting @$1300, yes $$$ (or about £850).

I AM VERY, very disappointed in your mis-representation and Links!

    • Crystal Mougier

So why not go to google and look it up on your own instead of counting on someone to GIVE you the link….do some research if you want it that bad.

  8. Stephanie Troublezz Jimenez-Solorzano

    Have one! It's great!

    • Alexander Kerkeus Brunton

      how does it work

    • Betsy Albergo

This really works? What does it print on? Paper? Plastic? It confuses me.

    • Thom Wiseman

IT prints onto nothing. It deposits plastic rather than ink and builds up the layers

  9. Toby Brack

If you look around you can find them for $400 roughly, or build ya own at http://www.reprap.org/wiki/Build_A_RepRap.

  10. Stacey Roden

Don't know why but I want one lol

  11. Crista Baker

So…I'm confused…..what the fuck is this?

    • Arran Pimblett

Its a printer that prints out objects

    • Jade Doxtator-Casey

maybe not print out Oblects but probably Print ON Objects

    • Wyatt Jeffords

no it literally makes 3d objects

    • Charles Glaman

3D printers actually print out an actual project, but you need to have a good software for it. High end printers can print with metals…this is likely plastic

    • Jack Lawrence Metzel

Aye, it literally makes objects. Although the one in the photo here looks like the Cubify Cube: http://cubify.com/cube/index.aspx?tb_cube_learn

    • Emily Rachel Grant

we have one in uni. the 'ink' is kinda like resin, you make your object on the computer like three dimensional and then it prints and as it prints the 'ink' dries and gradually layer by layer it creates the object

    • Courtney Spears

It does print out 3d objects they been workin on this for a while pretty sure this isn't the full prototype.. it can print out some things I'm sure, but it's not that advanced as the ones they are developing now.

    • Nefarious Wheel

These are genuine devices that you plug into a computer, and use to translate a 3D graphic file into physical objects. The real thing. They start about $1,200 or so for one that uses whipper-snipper twine and makes things coffee-cup sized, all the way up to factory floor printers that work with stainless steel. They're real, and they're quite new.

    • Christopher Laplant

new to the public maybe. they have been using them over here in the US for the last 10-12 years in hospitals. the print out skin using ink made from your own cells so your body dont reject it and your healing time is cut down alot too

    • Jën Diehärd

So any word as to if we can print guns yet or not?

    • Fatai Prince Ojuri

Not all the parts, but most, it will get there soon.

    • Brian P Lewis

Fatai Prince Ojuri wow at the very moment of reading this it came on my news that sum1 in texas has made 1 it shows him firing it and they said europole are monitoring developments ,if i had the money i'd buy a 3d printer now b4 it's potential is really seen a few £s worth of plastic and you have a gun.the military should build a giant 1 it would save money all so it would be easy to get rid of after service instead of it ending up in the wrong hands

  15. Jeremy Lashway

it cost a lot of money just to print up little plastic things you can just buy at the dollar store. its a 1600 dollar curiosity.

    • Jack Schultz

They are very expensive, but I think it's more for business use, making a working model of a project. Home use would be to make parts that went missing for things you still have, not to make dollar store junk.

    • Jeremy Lashway

find someone smart enough to run it and they wouldnt loose parts in the first place and companies have real machines to make prototypes. and how the hell did you find this comment in here? lol

    • Jeremy Lashway

the quality is the same as a toy you'ed get from toys are us. the material cant be strong it either melted plastic low density or soime sort of glue. its neat ill give it that but at 1600 bucks ill pass

    • Jenny Dwight Richards

One of the homeschool families in E. MA is looking at starting up kid-classes for science involving this one…
      http://www.makerbot.com/

    • Jeremy Lashway

it wont teach them street smarts but at least its fun befor they get into the rough world they get sheltered from

    • Matt Woods

The material used the most on 3D printers is ABS. If you think "the material cant be strong it either" just because it can melt then you don't really know anything about ABS. I'm sure if it wasn't a strong material it wouldn't be used for things like protective helmets, golf club heads, canoes, etc. Learn about something before you comment on it. Also 3D printing, commonly referred to as rapid prototyping, started off mainly in the big business world for making low cost prototypes. Basically anything you can make in a 3D modeling program you can output to the 3D printer.

If you think the price of the home units are high you've never seen the cost of a professional grade printer. I've seen them as high as $60,000. Personally I would use one to make costume props for myself and to sell at conventions. Here's an example of what someone was able to do with a 3D printer http://www.3ders.org/articles/20111116-most-awesome3d-printed-cosplay-cecil-harvey.html
