If you go into a Shanghai sandwich shop "The Press", you'll see this vintage Coca-Cola vending machine up against the wall. Whilst it may look at little out of place, given that it's the 21st century, you probably wouldn't think anything of it. However, it's not really a vending machine, it's actually a secret door! Want to know where it leads? Okay, that's a silly question, of course you do!
This is "The Press". See the vending machine over in the corner?
Okay, in we go…
You've just entered an awesome speakeasy-style bar called Flask.
The interior of Flask is amazing. It combines a 1920s prohibition-era style with modern elements to create a sumptuous and atmospheric interior.
The place was designed by architect Alberto Caiola. Talking about the design, he wrote:
The fun, lighthearted feel, the bright colors and lighting [in The Press] —within a few steps, these elements segue into a mysterious space with warm, muted lighting and the murmurs of bar patrons to invite further curiosity.
Shanghai's a long way away, but we'd love to have a drink in this gorgeous bar.
