A stay in hospital, whether long or short, never seems like an appealing option, but Sant Pau is one hospital that's so beautiful you might not mind having to stay in for observation. This amazing building was designed by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, but was only made possible thanks to the generosity of local banker and philanthropist, Pau Gil. Work began on the hospital in 1902 and took a few years to complete. It's generally considered to be one of the finest architectural examples of Catalan Modernism and is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. The building had fallen into disrepair and wasn't being used as a hospital, but it has recently been renovated and is once more accepting patients. Let's take a look!
This place is amazing! Sant Pau Hospital looks like something out of a fairytale. I don't want to get sick any time soon but if I do, let's hope I'm in Barcelona at the time!
