Anastasia Safonov is a Russian artist that creates mandala art ceramic plates. Yes, that’s tableware with plenty of colors and patterns! Indeed, they’re all mesmerizing. Her mugs, magnets, and ceramic plates have dot-by-dot paintings. She uses acrylic paint, and what results are astonishing finishes.
As defined by tradition, the mandala is a ritual and spiritual symbol. Both Buddhism and Hinduism use mandala art to serve meditative and therapeutic purposes. Its primary asset is the geometric pattern that flows from the center. Apparently, this gives a picture of the universe.
According to psychoanalyst Carl Jung, the art of mandala is a way of expressing one’s wholeness.
In her mandala art ceramic plates, Anastasia Safonov uses a tiny blog of metallic acrylic paint at the center. Sometimes, though, she also uses a pearl bead. Patiently, the artist forms the radial design with meticulousness. She draws various lines, shapes, and swirls.
As she completes the pattern, Anastasia paints the elements with a clear lacquer for protection. Honestly, it’s a long and repetitive technique. Describing it in Instagram, though, the artist says it’s like magic. While it takes some time to finish, the process:
“always brings [her] pleasure and thrill.”
