It’s not every day that you stumble upon a celebrity who’s willing to pay for your groceries. However, November 27th, the day before Thanksgiving, was such a lucky day for some Walmart shoppers. One woman, claiming to be a lottery winner, went around the supermarket and offered to pay for random people’s groceries. It turns out it was none other than Australian singer-songwriter Sia.
Aside from her hit songs like “Chandelier,” the 43-year-old singer is famous for her signature eccentric wigs and big bows. Ironically, most of us would probably recognize her better with her face hidden underneath these props. So, it’s not at all surprising that it took the shoppers a while before they realized who they were talking to.
The “Chandelier” singer surprised random shoppers at Walmart by offering to pay for their groceries
The artist introduced herself as Cici and claimed that she had just won the lottery. Afterward, she started swiping her card and paying for people’s groceries. She happily transferred from one cash register to another as she exclaimed, “Who’s next?”. People were unsuspecting of the artist who wore her hair in a high bun with a casual outfit and coat.

However, her anonymity ended when a fan finally recognized her and asked to snap a photo with her. Sia was all smiles as she hugged and took photos with her fans. It was certainly a surprising and remarkable encounter with the artist for both her fans and other lucky shoppers. Some even took to social media to share their gratitude towards the kind-hearted singer.
So @Sia paid for my groceries today thank you so much!! The heart and beautiful soul you have for paying for everyone!! I’m sorry for telling everyone once I realized who you were !! But this kindness must be acknowledged!!! pic.twitter.com/p7CMvBBQyP

It turns out that prior to gracing Walmart’s counters, the singer had first dropped by T.J. Maxx, which was also in Palm Springs, California.

Back in October, the artist made a shocking revelation and announced that she has a neurological disease due to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Nonetheless, she used her struggles to inspire other people suffering from the same condition.
“I just wanted to say to those of you suffering from pain, whether physical or emotional, I love you, keep going. Life is f– hard. Pain is demoralizing, and you’re not alone.”
Here’s how people reacted to singer-songwriter Sia’s surprising Thanksgiving kindness
