This industrial crane, which stands over 160 feet tall and weighs around 250 tons, had been standing on the waterfront in Amsterdam for decades. Despite being one of the oldest and tallest mechanical structures in the world, it had fallen into disrepair and was crumbling away, until a group of visionary architects decided to come together and give it a new lease of life… as a luxury hotel! This might seem like a mad idea, especially since it cost many millions of dollars to renovate, but Hotel Faralda, as the crane is now known, is proving to be extremely popular. Let's take a look at what they did with the place!
Website: Hotel Faralda
Observing from the outside, you'd probably never guess this was anything other than a regular crane.
But, step inside and it contains all sorts of delights, such as this communal hot tub with a view!
Due to space constraints, there are only three suites in the hotel, but each one is gorgeous and finished to the highest standard.
The design is modern, yet decadent, with a classic feel to it.
Each suite has lots of large windows, since the amazing views are one of the hotel's selling points.
The whole place just looks so cool.
We'd love to spend a night or two in this awesome hotel. But, what do you think? It's certainly not the place for anyone who's afraid of heights!
