Maine Coon kittens are undeniably adorable, not to mention super fluffy creatures. That’s why we suggest you revel in their extreme cuteness before they grow into massive cats. Maine Coon cats are the largest and perhaps the most majestic domesticated cat breed there is. Their luscious fur and giant paws, coupled with their fine physique and bold personalities truly make them unique.
Up to now, there’s still no concrete data regarding this breed’s origin. However, many assume that this breed is a descendant of the cats that traveled with 11th-century Norsemen. A healthy and full-grown Maine Coon cat can weigh up to 18 pounds. Moreover, cats of this majestic breed can also reach a body length of up to 122 centimeters or even more.

In fact, a Maine Coon named Barivel from Italy currently holds the title for Guinness World Record’s longest domestic cat. He measures 120 centimeters or nearly 4 feet long. His two predecessors, Ludo and Mymains Steward Gilligan aka Stewie, were also of the same breed. To date, Stewie still remains the longest domestic cat ever, at 123 centimeters long. Sadly, he passed away in February 2013 after a tough battle with cancer.

Maine Coons are highly adaptable even to harsh winters. Their dense coats help keep them warm, while their huge paws help them walk on snow easily. And compared with other cat breeds, Maine Coons are easier to train because of their higher intellect. As you’ll see below, cats of this breed also come in a variety of colors and fur patterns.
