These days, more and more people are choosing to invest in camper vans and motor homes. After all, it’s nice to have a recreational vehicle at your disposal whenever you need a quick escape from the city. Over the years, we’ve seen some sustainable ones, but perhaps nothing can still compare to the Ecocapsule. This egg-shaped living pod allows you to live completely off-the-grid, almost anywhere in the world.
It utilizes both solar and wind energy to generate electricity. So, it comes with high-efficiency solar panels on the roof and a low-noise wind turbine on a telescopic pole. The maximum power output for the solar panels and the wind turbine is at 880W and 750W, respectively.
Developed by Slovakia-based architecture company Nice&Wise (formerly Nice Architects), this mobile home promotes sustainable living like no other
This self-sufficient micro home also includes a 9.7 kWh battery pack as a default option. When fully charged, this can provide energy for at least four days, based on average daily consumption of 2.2 kW.
Water access is also not a problem in this mobile living pod. Its unique shape allows rainwater to be collected on the surface, which then goes to the water tank. In the absence of rain, you can also gather water from any external source like a lake or a river. Any collected water will then undergo cleaning via a pre-filtration system and a UV LED lamp. This process effectively filters out 99.98% of dirt, leaving you with clean, usable water.
Design-wise, it sports a steel body clad in insulated fiberglass shells. With an interior of 67.81 sq. ft., this micro home comfortably houses up to two people. It comes fully furnished with cabinets, racks, a desk and a folding bed with a mattress. There’s also a kitchenette, complete with a two-burner stove and a sink. The faucets also come with built-in filters to provide you with potable water.
In addition, there’s a bathroom equipped with a water-saving faucet that surprisingly doubles as a showerhead. Inside, there’s a waterless, separating toilet too. According to the company, they’re currently working on an “incineration toilet” for the second edition of these mobile living pods.
Furthermore, this micro home boasts a smart home system and sensors, as well as a heating and ventilation system. You can also adjust the home system interface through a smartphone application. It can also provide data network connection within 2G up to 4G coverage.
These smart micro homes are available for purchase at 79,900 Euros each, exclusive of shipping. Meanwhile, the company is also now accepting pre-orders for the second edition of these smart micro homes. Feel free to check out their website to find out how you can own one of these self-sustainable living pods.
