It’s truly heartwarming to see the efforts that parents make in order to provide the best for their children. Australian-based Instructables user Tez_Gelmir, for one, has built an epic Star Wars-inspired rocking speeder bike for his daughter’s first birthday. Apparently, we have a Princess Leia Organa in the making right here, and the force is certainly strong with her!
Father of two Tez_Gelmir clearly has a knack for DIY projects. In his Instructables page, he shared that he has built his son “lots of projects” including a portable LEGO creation station. And since his daughter’s first birthday was coming up, he decided to cook up something really exciting for her.
That is, a rocker fit for his little space princess that’s bound to be the envy of all Jedi wannabes
The Instructables user took inspiration from the original concept drawing of the 74-Z Speeder Bike from the hit movie series. The hovercraft made its most remarkable appearance in the forest chase scene from Return of the Jedi in 1983. Using plywood, PVC, and 3D-printed parts, Tez_Gelmir was able to recreate the vehicle in the form of a toddler-friendly rocker.
The creative dad detailed the entire procedure and materials required for the project on his Instructables page. He was also generous enough to include the templates for 3D printing. At a glance, it’s safe to say that the project really entails some serious woodworking skills. Besides, having a 3D printer at hand could really help you yield better output.
Strength and stability were Tez_Gelmir’s primary considerations in building his creation to ensure his kids’ safety.
“The need to be strong enough to handle a beating led me to the first part of my design, a rigid backbone with a solid plywood top for the seat platform.”
His creation can definitely do more than typical rockers which can only sway back and forth. In fact, it also boasts a light-up blaster cannon which turns red and emits sounds when triggered. Well, what can say, this rocker is surely on point. The proud father also uploaded a video featuring his little girl taking the rocker on a test ride while wearing a Princess Leia costume.
