Frida Kahlo’s Blue House (Caza Azul) is a historic house museum that exhibits the life and works of the great Mexican artist. The museum is located in Colonia del Carmen neighborhood of Coyoacan in Mexico City. It got its name for its cobalt-blue walls. The building was originally the family home of Kahlo which was later turned into a museum four years after her death. It has been a popular destination for art enthusiasts and fans of Kahlo, making it the most visited museum in Mexico City.
Frida Kahlo’s Blue House contains not only the illustrious collection of Kahlo’s artworks. Since the famous artist spent most of her time in the house, the museum also holds Frida’s memorabilia, photographs, and personal items. Furthermore, she and her husband Diego Rivera, who is also an artist, also lived in the house. So, you can also see artworks of Rivera displayed inside. Kahlo died in 1954 in a room on the second floor of the Casa Azul. Three years after her death, her husband donated the home. He left everything inside as they were in order to turn it into a museum. And in 1958, the house museum was established to honor the celebrated artist.
