Coffee mugs come in all sorts of sizes, colors, shapes and designs. But there’s no denying that everyone’s got a favorite mug. And any beverage you drink from it tastes a hundred times better than when you drink it from a different mug. Unfortunately, coffee mugs have a very simple design flaw that can cause a single drop to inspire mild annoyance to a full blown annihilation of one’s day. A little drip on the counter isn’t a big problem but a coffee stain, no matter its size, on your white or light-colored outfit on an important day can be disastrous. So to prevent this very minor inconvenience from discoloring our tables and lives, a South Korean designer has come up with a drip-catching coffee mug.
Now you might think that that innocent little coffee streak running down your coffee mug won’t do anything serious. Well, think again. Coffee will eventually stain your mug’s glazed ceramic surface over time. Plus, we think it’s safe to say that you’d rather avoid leaving any water stains on your furniture, right? If so, then it’s high time you added the Babosarang or ‘Drop-Rest’ drip catching coffee mug to your collection!
This drip-catching coffee mug will save you from the trouble of extra clean up duties and prevent possible stains
South Korean designer Kim Keun Ae is the one behind the ingenious coffee mug design tweak. The Drop-Rest Mug doesn’t really look very different from a typical mug you’d see on display in stores and in your cupboard. In fact, the only thing that distinguishes it from standard mugs is the thin line that goes around the mug. This subtle line intercepts any stray coffee drips that rush down the side of your mug so you won’t have to deal with any mess after you’ve finished your coffee.
The mug features a single grooved line that goes around the mug to catch any drips from your drink
This drip-catching mug comes in plain white and measures 9cm in diameter and 9cm tall. With those dimensions, the mug can hold up to 140z of any beverage you want to drink using the Drop-Rest Mug. The tiny crevice is relatively easy to clean and guarantees that you won’t ever need to deal with spills and splatters ever again. As of writing, the Drop-Rest Mug is only available via the South Korean shopping portal YesStyle. And won’t come cheap – in fact, a single mug will set you back around $50. This will definitely be worth the splurge if you’re looking to own a well-designed mug that guarantees a mess-free drinking experience.
