The intricacy of the human body is a subject that many people often try to avoid. Indeed, it can be overwhelming especially to those who are in not the medical field. Nevertheless, it’s certainly worthy of our attention and appreciation too. Luckily, these fascinating anatomical embroideries by textile artist Amber Griffiths offer an opportunity for us to revel in the unexplored beauty of the human body.

Based in Shropshire, England, Griffiths goes by the creative name Ambroidering online. Using traditional and punch needle embroidery techniques, she effectively portrays the complex inner workings of the human body on fabric. From the skeletal framework of the human physique to the structure of different body organs, each piece is undeniably well-thought-of and well-researched.

Aside from intricately stitching the details using a needle and thread, she also embellishes her works with beads and sequins to add visual interest. During the early stage of her embroidery journey, Griffiths’ artworks primarily featured animals, plants, and scenic views. Eventually, a desire to create a Valentine’s piece prompted her to take on the symbol of love with a scientific twist.

“I’m not really someone who’s into all the typical lovey-dovey Valentine’s style, so I stitched an anatomical heart instead! And I found it a lot more fun and interesting than all the flowers I’d been working on previously, so I carried on with anatomy and haven’t really stopped since.”

Her stitched masterpieces showcase the beauty of the human body that goes beneath the skin, literally and figuratively

Apparently, this sparked her interest to explore the entire human anatomy and take inspiration from it.
