Artist Abdulrahman Eid Creates Incredibly Detailed Dioramas That Look Like Real Places You Could Walk Into

Small is beautiful – there’s something special about miniature art that brings out the most wide-eyed sense of childlike wonder in all of us. Just take a look at these detailed dioramas by Syrian artist Abdulrahman Eid and you’ll find yourself uttering the word ‘amazing’ a lot more than you normally do. Currently based in Turkey, Eid was heavily inspired by the unique heritage of the historic Jeddah and the Hijaz region when he moved to Saudi Arabia 18 years ago.

His great miniature artworks feature historic buildings and antique shops that incorporate the many distinctive decorative styles of traditional Hijazi architecture. The talented sculptor makes his dioramas look more realistic by adding ‘worn-looking’ details to give them the aged appearance. And the result is eerily lifelike small-scale replica that could be easily mistaken for reality. That’s why Eid includes his hand in the photos to scale and prove that his pieces are indeed minuscule.

Eid not only recreates the façade of the buildings and the small open storefronts below but he also creates tiny antique pieces displayed inside the shops. The intricate pieces in the shops include patterned rugs, copperware, hanging lamps, old-fashioned household appliances, mirrors, and more. His detailed dioramas are so impressive that they make you want to visit the actual place.
