Seattle-based street artist Peregrine Church has created the Rainworks series of public art which only shows up when it gets wet! Working similarly to invisible ink, the superhydrophobic coatings he uses creates non-permanent designs. As the coating is also non toxic and not always visible and because he is not advertising a product, city authorities have given Church the go-ahead to create his artwork spontaneously. Each piece lasts from 4 – 12 months depending on how much traffic the sidewalk attracts. What a cool idea!
