Samuli Heimonen is a Finnish painter who won Young Artist of the Year in 2008 and who also lectures in and teaches visual arts. His amazing paintings are based on a dream-like language where he produces symbolism which speaks deeply to the viewer. When beginning a painting, he uses only black and white acrylics, moving on to oils when he is content with the feel of the initial stages of his creation.
"As an artist I try to make people stop for a moment. And when they stop, they start to think. Nature and animals are very important for me. In my work there’s a silent agenda for animal rights and nature preserving."
