It’s not too unusual for people to decide to live off-grid, but the way that this couple have gone about it is definitely notable! Catherine King and Wayne Adams started building their own floating island back in 1992 and have been living a sustainable lifestyle, growing and fishing for all their food, since then. The island, which they have named “freedom cove” is located off the coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and is made up of 12 floating platforms. Each platform have a different purpose; there’s a sleeping/living area for Catherine and Wayne, five greenhouses for growing food, a guest bedroom, and more. They even have their own art gallery and a dance floor! All their energy comes from a combination of photovoltaic energy generators and solar panels. Let’s check out this awesome residence!
