China has an incredibly long and well regarded tradition for wood carving. Looking at the first photo below, you could be forgiven for thinking you're seeing a large piece of old driftwood. However moving on to the other photos, you will see one of the most incredible pieces of carved wood ever. Carved into a 12 foot tree, Zheng Chunhui's 'Along The River During The Qingming Festival' is a tribute to the renowned Chinese painting by the same name. Recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest wood carving in the world, the work depicts what life was like during the Song Dynasty (960 – 1279).
