Artist Ann Carrington has a penchant for collecting old things. Her treasure is other peoples trash! For the past few years, she has been collecting old pearl necklaces from junk shops and boot fairs with a view to building the awesomely majestic galleons below.
Taking her inspiration for the pieces from a documentary about a pearl jewelry factory in China, she finally had enough pearls to begin her project in the Spring of 2014. Starting with a metal structure, she weaved bracelets, bangles, brooches, tiaras and more into the desired shape for her galleons. She named the sculptures after two huge pearl factories in China, White Cloud City and Wing Wo Wave. Check out all the awesome detailing below, they're amazing!
