Did you know, it's technically possible to produce sneakers made almost entirely out of fishing nets and plastic waste from the sea? Adidas have paired with an organization called 'Parley For The Oceans' and together they've come up with the novel idea. Although it's only at concept stage, we think this represents a giant leap forward as far as sustainable fashion is concerned. Even more interesting is that the fish nets used to make the recycled fibers used in the project came from confiscated nets, after environmental activism group The Sea Shepherds tracked down poachers off the coast of West Africa. The "uppers" of the concept shoes you see below were made with recycled plastics and green net fibers, while the bases are made of other sustainable materials. It's unclear yet whether Adidas will go ahead and actually produce the shoes, but either way, the company has vowed to start using recycled fibers by early 2016.
