By day, Bryan Edmiston works as a 911 dispatcher, which means he answers people's calls to the emergency services, and has to listen to some of the worse imaginable tragedies happen to people. It's not surprising that he needs an outlet to help take his mind off it when he gets home. Where some people might cook or drink or watch tv, Edmiston has a much more creative solution…he carves miniature sculptures out of crayons. His tools of the trade are a dental scraper and an alcohol lamp. The main part of each sculpture is simply carved into the crayon, but any additional colors are added by melting a crayon of another color, and dripping and shaping the wax to create detail. Edmiston's sculptures are incredibly detailed for their size, and generally look awesome. Check them out!
