The unnamed woman you see below was snapped reading to shelter dogs in Pittsburgh to make them feel less lonely. The image was originally shared on Reddit by a user named ‘Puglife123’, a volunteer at the ‘Western Pennsylvania Humane Society’ animal shelter, where the photograph was taken. The kind lady is reading a book called ‘The Pup and the Biscuit’ to an elderly pit bull terrier called Jade. Take a look!

This lady often comes into the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society and reads to the caged dogs. Having lost her own 14 year old four legged friend, she wants to return the love he shared with her throughout his life.
There’s also a Book Buddies program that helps children improve reading skills while simultaneously helping shelter animals. While cats and dogs can’t understand a story the way a humans can, it’s been proven that hearing a calm human voice can help them to de-stress. Amazing!
