An Ontario-based company has acquired patents in the US and UK for an inflatable space elevator. The lift, if successfully built, could potentially carry cargo destined for space, to a much higher launching point. Thoth Technology has designed the space elevator to stand at an incredible 12.5 miles high. It could revolutionize space travel. Construction would be achieved by a series of stacked rings which are attached to Kevlar tubes. The tubes would be able to be inflated using either hydrogen or helium. Incredibly, although the patents only mention an elevator that is 12.5 miles high, Thoth thinks it could be possible to build one as high as 125 miles. Amazing! Take a look at what the elevator might look like, if built!
