Holidays can be expensive! Christmas is the worst offender, but Halloween comes in a close second. There are costumes to buy, piles of candy required to feed eager trick-or-treaters, and then what about all those seasonal decorations?! We’ve got a useful tip to help keep the cost down on the decoration front (other than neglecting to take down any and all cobwebs for a few months prior to Halloween), and that is… use garbage bags. It might sound ridiculous, but you can actually make some awesome Halloween decorations using the humble trash bag, and at a fraction of the cost at which you’d find them in stores. Take a look!

White garbage bags make excellent ghosts. Display them like this in a spooky circle…
Or hang them up outdoors to make “flying ghosts.”
A seasonal curtain runner is the latest in garbage bag chic.
This ring of white garbage bag figures is actually super creepy. Shudder.
Some more excellent trash bag curtains, but bonus points for the lovely dog!
This garbage bag ceiling hanging looks scarily effective!
Use newspaper and trash bags to create this wrapped corpse.
And, finally, you can’t go wrong with bats on Halloween!
