For the majority of human history, there's been no accurate way of recording things. We've had some forms of writing for 5,000 years or so, plus paintings from primitive cave paintings tens of thousands of years ago to priceless portraits by old masters in the last few hundred years. But, it's been less than 200 years since the first photograph was taken and less than 100 years since cameras were commonly owned items, so there has only been a short amount of human history captured on film. That's why historic photos are so precious, as they give us better insight into events as they really happened. Take a look at these twelve amazing historic photos and see for yourself!
