One of the great things about having your own home is that you can put your own stamp on it. It’s completely your decision what to do with the space and how to decorate it. Here we present an awesome project by Imgur user ‘thepassionofthechris’. He, his friends and family collected various bottle caps for more than 5 years with the idea of creating a super cool and unique kitchen counter top. Below you can see the process and the finished results. Prepare to be amazed!
The caps were collected for over 5 years by friends and family.
Extra help was rallied in for sorting out the caps…
The caps were roughly separated into red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
Two large pieces of quality 5/8″ plywood were used to form the base. The rails were 1 1/2″ poplar. Everything was glued and nailed.
The counter top was painted matte black and then sprayed with several cans of Rustoleum.
This is what it looked like before the caps were applied!
The caps that had messages were placed randomly throughout.
Originally, the idea was to create an image in the bar, but it was soon realized that it would be very difficult. There wasn’t enough of certain colors and too many of others.
Resin was added which fills any available airspace.
Several thin layers were applied rather than just pouring it all on as this would cause the caps to float.
Here you can see how the caps flow together rather than suddenly change.
Doesn’t it look fantastic?
What a brilliant project!
