New Jersey-based 18-year-old, Kyemah McEntyre, designed her prom dress to reflect her rich African heritage. She then spoke to a local seamstress, who agreed to hand sew the dress for her. The teenager was chosen as prom queen, and she is set to attend Parsons School of Design. McEntyre said on Twitter and Instagram,
" I am 18 years old and I am undoubtedly of African descent. As an artist I have a completely different point of view compared to most individuals. I am extremely analytical and observant. This is for always being labeled as 'ugly' or 'angry'. Thank God stereotypes are just opinions."
