For years, Easter has been all about chocolate eggs. But not anymore. M&S just launched its Easter-inspired cheese eggs and cheese lovers can’t help but rejoice. This is actually an excellent way to break from chocolate and try something savory instead of sweet for a change. So, what’s inside these eggciting goodies?
These cheese eggs are made with Barber’s farmhouse cheddar with a vintage 18-month matured Red Leicester as the yolk. And we’re loving it by the sound of it. Each egg is handmade and encased in a faux shell blue wax. And to make them legitimately look like real eggs, they come in a standard egg carton which contains six eggs.
Each box of cheese eggs costs £8.50 and is currently available in over 600 stores across the UK. In addition to the half-dozen cheesy Easter eggs, M&S will also launch a much larger single 300g egg for £8. The bigger variant will also feature the same cheesy design.
“Not only are our Mini Cheesy Eggs a picture perfect gift, they’re also completely delicious, with our quality Barber’s Farmhouse Cheddar and a vintage Red Leicester yolk. Beautiful served on an Easter lunch cheeseboard, sliced into a sandwich or salad, or loaded on top of crackers.”, M&S product developer Rosie Eiduks says.

Savory is the new flavor for Easter. Besides, it’s about time we save our teeth from all the cavities brought about by sugar-rich chocolate eggs. And if you happen to have friends who love cheese more than anything else, these cheese eggs would surely make their day. Finally, someone has heard and fulfilled every cheese lover’s prayer. Thank you, M&S!
