Often animals are referred to as beautiful creatures, but in some cases it is unclear why. Even though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, who could argue that this gorgeous crayfish isn't breathtaking? A German scientist, Christian Lukhaup recently discovered this memorizing crayfish the 'Cherax Pulcher'. It's vividly colored shell resembles a fascinating 'galaxy' or a tropical sunset.
Unbeknownst to Lukhaup, the pet trade industry has known about and traded this species for years, but knew little about it, other than where it could be found (the Indonesian part of New Guinea). Unfortunately Lukhaup states 'The continued collection of these crayfish for the trade is not a sustainable practice, and if the popularity of the species continues, a conservation management plan will have to be developed.'
