Portuguese designer Samuel Reis, focuses predominantly on the exploration of natural substances in his daily work. Part of the team at 'Vicara', a design brand based in the city of Leiria, he has come up with the amazing idea of using the inside of a tree trunk to create a glass bottle mould. Using the inner trunk of the Carob tree which can be found throughout Southern Portugal, the glass bottle is completely hand-blown. The resulting 'Cerne' bottle is therefore a tribute to nature, to the surrounding countryside and to the craftsmen who reside there.
