There’s nothing more adorable than baby animals. So, get ready to be swept off your feet by this cute baby elephant. This lovable creature has been the talk of the town lately for committing the most audacious crime in the most amusing way.
After getting caught pigging out on some sugarcane in a farmer’s field, the elephant quickly ran behind a narrow pole to hide. So when the local people saw the culprit’s bold attempt to hide from them, they couldn’t help but burst into laughter. With the flashlight aimed towards it, the guilty trespasser stood still behind the post. It might have been thinking that if it stays still, the local farmers won’t be able to see it.
This Baby Elephant Hides Behind A Narrow Pole After Getting Caught Stealing Sugarcane
One of the locals was able to capture the hilarious moment on camera. And when they uploaded it on Facebook, the internet just couldn’t handle the cuteness and the hilarity. The ‘crime’ happened in one of the sugarcane fields in Chiang Mai, north Thailand. There are currently around 4,000 elephants in Thailand. Half of this population is domesticated while the remaining live in park reserves.
Elephants love sugarcane, grass, small plants and fruit. And they won’t hesitate to steal their favorite food when given the chance. They will even demolish local crops in order to feast on some free snacks. So, elephants intruding on sugarcane farms is quite common in the country. Even if the farmers build a fence around the field, these large animals would just easily knock the fence over. So, farmers have to keep watch especially at night to keep these tusked thieves at bay.
“Keep calm. Officers will see. Let’s continue eating sugarcane.”
But elephants can still be sneaky at times. And this cute elephant sure is a cheeky one. Well, it actually did a great job hiding behind a post in order not to get caught. Because that silly move alone made the elephant get away with the crime. The photo quickly went viral on various social media platforms and has been shared by more than 1,000 people in less than two weeks. A Twitter user also shared a video showing elephants on a truck feasting on a pile of sugarcanes loaded on a nearby truck.
