Japan has always been famous for its unique cuisine as they are not only revered for their innovative flavors but they also bring satisfaction just by looking. Aside from its distinct flavor and sense of culture, a good aesthetic is also an essential element in Japanese cuisine. Hence, food carving art is a popular culinary technique in Japan where artists aren’t only found in art studios but in kitchens as well.
We’ve recently featured Japanese artist Tomoko Sato who can turn ordinary fruits into stunning works of art. Now check out another Japanese artist who is currently elevating food carving to a new realm of edible masterpieces. Like Sato, Gaku has also created several fruit carving showpieces. But he has recently shifted his focus to vegetables, turning broccoli, carrots, beans, eggplants, radishes, sweet potatoes, turnips, and other veggies into incredible sculptures. His latest creation called the Broccoli Fish is currently taking the internet by storm and you only need to see it to know why.
Gaku Creates Food Carving Art Made Out Of Vegetables

Gaku meticulously carves every detail using his precision knife towards the vegetable. In this piece, he sculpted the fluffy stalk of the broccoli into a fish with all its intricate details such as scales, fins, gill, and super realistic green shiny eyes. More interestingly, Gaku left the green florets intact and cleverly placed them at the tail fin and at the tips of the fins to give it the visual effect of splashing water. So it appears that the gorgeous fish is leaping out of the water.

The now-viral Broccoli Fish isn’t his only piece made out of broccoli. He had previously carved a hawk, a floral bouquet, a mythical serpent, and even chains out of broccoli. Furthermore, he also had carved fishes out of other vegetables such as sweet potato, ginger, and eggplant. You can find all of his food carving art creations on Instagram or better yet follow him on Instagram to get updated with his latest edible artworks.
