As the population of Paris grew, and more people moved to France's capital, both domestically and from abroad, the government built a number of huge housing projects between the 1950s and the 1980s. True to the architectural style of the time, these buildings were built to look almost 'futuristic', as if anticipating a not-too-distant time when we'd all be traveling in flying cars. However, that time never came and these housing estates are mostly forgotten and primarily populated by aging residents! Photographer, Laurent Kronental was fascinated by these housing projects and decided to have them, and some of their residents, star in a photo series. The results capture a melancholy beauty and as Laurent puts it, 'the poetry of aging environments slowly vanishing'! Check out the photos and see what you think!
