People get tattoos on their skin as a means of self-expression. So, it’s a no-brainer that most people would wish to have the most beautiful tattoo they could possibly get. To put it simply, ugliness has no room in the art of tattoo-making. Or at least that’s what we think. We’ve recently featured Helena Fernandes, a Brazilian tattoo artist who creates ugly tattoos. As a matter of fact, Helena admits that she’s not good at drawing. And she’s also aware that her tattoo creations aren’t the best. But why is she making it so big in the tattoo industry despite her bad tattoos?
Her home studio Malfeitona is probably the only tattoo studio in the world that offers ugly tattoos. Surprisingly, Helena is proud of her not-so-beautiful creations as she describes her craft as tatuagens peba which means “ugly tattoos”. It’s hard to believe but many people deem her awful creations as unique and sensational. True enough, her Instagram account has already 87 thousand followers as of this writing. And her studio’s Facebook page currently garners a 4.3 out of 5 rating from satisfied customers. These testimonials only mean one thing – people have different standards when it comes to beauty. What we consider ‘ugly’ may appear beautiful in someone else’s eyes.

If you’re a fan of Helena’s tattoos, you can reach her out through her Facebook page to book appointment. But you’ll need to fly to Brazil to get inked by the popular artist herself. Also visit her Instagram page to see her latest creations.
