The Japanese have surely got it right when it comes to this amazingly awesome and cozy invention! The ‘kotatsu’ (the origins of which date back to the 14th century) is effectively a blanket placed between a low table frame and table top, with a heat source planted underneath the blanket. It was originally designed so that someone wearing traditional Japanese clothing would have warm air come up through the bottom of their robes, exiting via the neck, and thus keeping the person nice and warm during those cold winter months. We think it’s a great idea! What do you think? Check it out!
