Being different can be a beautiful thing. This cat may look a little different from other cats but he is also adorable and lovable in his own ways. Monty is a very special cat who is currently making waves on the internet due to his unique look. And he is indeed unlike any other kitty you’ve ever seen. If you’ve been frequenting our page, you probably know how we love to feature cute cats with amusing personalities. And this unique-looking kitty is unquestionably worthy to be included here.
A round face with a flat profile, eyes far apart, and small nose and mouth, Monty appears to manifest the common physical traits of Down syndrome. But Monty’s distinctive appearance is due to a chromosome abnormality which resulted to the deformity of his nasal bridge or nose bone. Born without a bone in his nose, his face looks a bit different from normal cats. And being raised in a shelter in Copenhagen, Denmark, he had a hard time finding his forever home because no one seemed interested in adopting him. So, he stayed in the shelter for quite a long time hoping that someone would accept and embrace him the way he is.

Fortunately, a couple who was looking for a feline pet saw Monty in the shelter. Michael Bjørn and Mikala Klein instantly fell in love with the unique cat at first sight.
Unlike most people who have seen him, the couple found him rather special with his unique face. The couple also understood that this special kitty has a health condition which may require medical attention in the long run. But Michael and Mikala were prepared for anything as long as they can keep this adorable cat.

Sure enough, the couple would find Monty peeing in his sleep and sneezing a lot due to chromosome abnormality. But although he sneezes more than normal, he has no problem breathing through his nose which allowed him to breathe normally.
He was later diagnosed with epilepsy and has to be on epilepsy medication to stop the seizures. And last year, he was diagnosed with diabetes and has to get insulin shots to keep his health in check.
