If you think costume plays are just for children, then this cool mom from Brazil will change your mind. Known online as Tia Sol (Auntie Sun), Solange Amorim is a frequent guest at local cosplay conventions in her area. And no, she’s not just there to accompany her kids. In fact, she’s there to join in on the fun as well as she dresses up in charming costumes too!
Of course, she only chooses characters that are appropriate for her age, so they’re not typically represented by younger cosplayers. In turn, this makes it impossible not to spot her at any convention. From Yubaba from Spirited Away, Genkai from Yu Yu Hakusho, Muriel from Courage the Cowardly Dog, and more, Tia Sol’s depiction of these characters is simply on point. Keep scrolling down to see how this cool mom is slaying the internet with her impressive pop culture icon impersonations!

Just like many cosplayers, Tia Sol creates her own costumes. She usually purchases the pieces separately online and combines them together to form intricately accurate ensembles. Interestingly, the first-ever character she represented was Tweety Bird’s Granny. In an interview, she revealed that she initially accompanied her daughter to conventions. A friend eventually dared her to dress up, which then marked the beginning of her cosplaying journey.
“A friend said that I wouldn’t have the guts, I chose a character and had the costume made without saying another word. It was Tweety Bird’s granny. I didn’t know that I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from going to the events!”
Kaede from Inuyasha
Sophie Hatter from Howl’s Moving Castle

From time to time, Tia Sol impersonates older male characters too!

Overall, Tia Sol’s grateful that the younger participants have welcomed her warmly into the community. In fact, she has even made a lot of friends too! And now, she attends every single event in her city and considers them a “world of make-believe where anything goes.”
