Other brands may still be busy giving their product lineup a fall makeover, but here comes Nabisco, all ready to ring the Christmas bells. The cookie and snack manufacturer has recently released a new version of its Oreo Gingerbread cookies. Gingerbread cookies amidst all the pumpkin spice-flavored treats? We’re not complaining at all.
This festive flavor first hit the shelves back in 2012. Since then, it has been making its annual comeback around the holidays. And after nearly a decade, Oreo has finally decided to give it a new look. Unlike its predecessors which came in yellow packaging, this year’s version comes in the standard blue packaging with a festive touch. With the giant gingerbread house printed on the front, you certainly wouldn’t mistake it for another variant.

Oreo’s Gingerbread cookies are back with a new look and a flavor update
Aside from the packaging, even the sandwich cookies have gotten a new look. Unlike the previous versions which featured the standard Oreo cookie pattern, the new cookies now feature five festive designs. These include “Oreo Joy,” “Oreos for Santa,” a Christmas tree, a gingerbread man and a gingerbread house.

On top of that, the sandwich cookies have also gotten a flavor update. The previous versions consisted of golden cookies with gingerbread-flavored crème. However, this year’s version seems a bit more exciting as it now consists of actual gingerbread-flavored cookies. What’s more, the crème is loaded with crunchy sugar crystals. So, you’ll get a sweet, crunchy texture and a good dose of gingerbread flavor with every bite.

Apparently, the new cookies have been receiving positive feedback from Instagram users and snack reviewers online. According to @kosherfoodie_stalker, the cookies’ spice profile, cinnamon, and sugar tones are “very, very close to gingerbread.” Correspondingly, @mnmtwinz has dubbed the updated version “a top tier flavor.” Judging by these responses, it’s safe to say that Nabisco has done a great job giving the cookies a makeover.

So far, Instagram users and snack reviewers have only spotted the new festive cookies at Walgreens. It’s highly unlikely that they’re an exclusive release, so they should be available in more retailers soon. But knowing us, we’d still suggest dropping by your local Walgreens to get your hands on them as early as now!
