If you want to give a gift that will grow into something more, literally, then this is the thing for you. Jeni from Twine & Table came up with an awesome craft idea for making plantable paper. The paper is laced with wildflower seeds (or any other seeds of your choice) so that it can be planted in the earth and turn into something wonderful. In this case, it was intended as a mother's day gift, but it would make a lovely present for any occasion, or just because! The process is actually simpler than you might expect, but check out Jeni's blog if you need further instructions.

The first step is to fix some cross-stitch canvas in a frame, which will act as a mold for the paper.
Then tear up some bits of scrap paper and blend them up with some water to make a pulp. When ready, pour it on to the canvas.
Then spread the pulp out to fill the entire frame and press out as much water as you can. You might want to use paper towels or tea towels to absorb the excess water. At this stage, you can press in some dried petals and leaves, if you want!
When the pulp is almost dry, sprinkle over a generous amount of wildflower seeds, put a paper towel over the top and go over it with a rolling pin.
Then all that's left to do is wait for it to dry and decorate it how you see fit.
What an awesome and thoughtful gift!
