Humans are naturally social beings. Unfortunately, the current global health crisis has forced us to change the way we interact with each other. So, a café in Germany has come up with an ingenious way to adapt to this “new normal.” Café Rothe Schwerin gives its customers hats with pool noodles to ensure that they keep their distance from one another.
A Facebook post by the Schwerin-based coffee shop has recently gone viral for revealing their new business operation guidelines. The post featured a photo of their patrons casually enjoying their drinks and desserts… with a playful twist. Apparently, the café seems to now require its customers to wear hats with colorful foam on top. Although the idea seems hilarious, it’s actually quite effective in reminding guests not to get too close with each other.
A cafe in Germany has come up with a brilliant idea to enforce social distancing measures among its customers
That is, by requiring them to wear hats with pool noodles on top!
Unfortunately, café owner Jacqueline Rothe revealed that it was only a one-time requirement for the café’s reopening
Despite being officially back in business, the café still observes a set of modified business operation guidelines. These include seating and serving their customers outside, as well as ensuring a 1.5-meter distance between tables. However, café owner Jacqueline Rothe clarified that the pool noodle headgear was only a one-time requirement for the café’s reopening. So, guests won’t have to wear them regularly.
Nonetheless, the café still observes other social distancing measures such as maintaining a 1.5-meter distance between tables and seating customers outside
Cafe & Konditorei Rothe is just one of the many establishments in Germany that have once again opened its doors. The European country has recently started easing its lockdown measures, reopening the entire country on a state-to-state basis.
The café mainly offers decadent cakes and pastries, so locals can satisfy their sweet tooth again!
Germany remains to be among the top 10 countries with the highest number of confirmed cases. To date, the country has over 179,000 confirmed cases, with a death toll reaching over 8,000. Even so, it’s still worth noting that Germany has the lowest fatality rate among these most-affected countries.
Apparently, several food establishments in other countries are also coming up with creative ways to enforce social distancing measures. In Vietnam, there’s a restaurant that uses panda plush toys to keep diners apart while still having a cute companion.
Here’s how the online community reacted to the café’s hat idea
