Embroidery tattoos have been around for some time. We’ve been mesmerized by the works of Brazilian tattoo artist Duda Lozano who creates pop culture patch tattoos that seem like they’re made of threads stitched into the skin. Now the trend doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon because another creative tattoo artist is here to give Lozano a run for his money.
Sydney-based tattooist Min Zumi has been in the tattoo industry since 2015. Originally from South Korea, he found his passion in tattoo-making at the age of 18. To further enhance his skills, he joined a tattoo crew to study traditional Japanese tattoo culture and traditional style. While he was mostly inspired by the traditional Japanese tattoo style, he felt he was bound by the strict boundaries of the traditional art. So, he started to think outside the box and came up with his unique idea of incorporating embroidery with tattoo design. And that’s how his pop culture tattoos came to light.

Just like Lozano, Min Zumi is also heavily influenced by popular culture. Cartoon shows, anime series, video games, sports and popular movies – Min’s pop culture tattoos have a lot to offer. Min uses tiny lines and drop shadows to make each ‘thread’ appear to be sewn directly onto the skin. Each highly detailed tattoo is so realistic that anyone who sees it would surely do a double take.

These patch tattoos also allow everyone to express their geeky side. If you’re a huge fan of Dragon Ball, Pokemon, Gundam and other anime shows, Min will ink your favorite characters on your body. Fans of cartoon shows can also have their favorite cartoon characters tattooed on them. Snoopy, Popeye, Avatar, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse, you just name it and Min will do the perfect job.
