For those of you that don't know, Down Syndrome (also known as Trisomy 21) is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of all, or part of, a third copy of chromosome 21. Some of the features of the disorder are physical growth delays, characteristic facial features and mild to moderate intellectual disability.
One day photographer Sigga Ella was inspired to come up with this photo series titled 'First And Foremost I Am'. This is to highlight that people who have down syndrome should not be identified by the disorder, as first and foremost, they are people.
