You wouldn't think photographs of women dressed up as dead underworld spirits, complete with skulls drawn onto their faces, could be beautiful. But you'd be wrong. Las Muertas is a spookily beautiful photo series by Tim Tadder, inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead. The haunting, yet colorful works feature female models who, via their dress and skull-painted faces, pay homage to the Aztec roots of the festival and to Mictecacihuati, goddess of the underworld. Tadder's photos were created with the help of makeup artist Krisztianna and costume designer Julia Reeser. Check it out!
