If you love to doodle, then you're probably no stranger to the swirl, a flourish that seems to end up in page margins and on the backs of used envelopes all over the world. But artist Carolina Matthes has chosen to incorporate swirls into her full pieces of artwork. Matthes creates gorgeous illustrations of various animals, but each one is made out of a series of intricate swirls, almost reminiscent of the tribal tattoo style. Each one has a slightly different feel to it, as Matthes likes to experiment and uses a range of different mediums to create her art. She tends to make mixed media pieces, that are a combination of digital and more traditional art. Most of her work combines vector art with either watercolors, ink and pastels, or a mixture. Let's take a look at her work!
