Would you believe us if we told you this mansion you see below was bought for $1?! That's right, just one single dollar! The Ouerbacker Mansion was built in the 1860's and belonged to coffee merchant Samuel Ouerbacker. He lived in this mansion in Louisville, Kentucky, until his death in 1922. Reverend George Clement then purchased the mansion and lived there through the 1930's. Following that, it was used as a tax office for 70 years before then belonging to the city. By 2005, the mansion was in a terrible state of disrepair and the city had to fund $100,000 to secure the collapsing structure. It's no wonder they wanted to get rid of the responsibility of the mansion, and maybe that's why it sold for such a ridiculous price. The mansion was recently bought by a company called Oracle Design. They have some great investment plans to restore the building and create rentable apartments. But even with a total refurbishment, we're still not convinced they'll be able to get rid of the ghostly feel about the place.
