When scouting for bargains at a thrift store, many people would probably give vintage paintings a hard pass. However, that’s not the case for Ohio-based artist Dave Sherrill of Arrowhead Vintage & Goods. In fact, he particularly seeks out these discarded artworks to give them a new life. To do so, he incorporates characters from popular fantasy films and series like Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Godzilla and more into these painted landscapes.
In his series of “Altered Art,” you can see how Sherrill has transformed stunning landscapes into surreal fantasy scenes. From Godzilla preparing to wreak havoc at the beach to a Mandalorian standoff by a windmill and a lot more. It’s simply amazing how the talented artist has managed to blend the fictional characters seamlessly into picturesque backdrops.

Sherrill currently has over 40 altered paintings listed on his vintage store’s website which he co-manages with his wife. Although his works feature a variety of characters, it’s pretty evident that the one franchise is his favorite. Many of his pieces portray a seemingly dystopian setting where the characters in the epic saga such as Yoda have made their way to the human world.

One painting features TIE fighters scaring off some ducks in the wild. Meanwhile, another piece shows Master Yoda awaiting the arrival of Luke Skywalker who’s aboard the X-wing. There’s also one artwork that portrays R2-D2 facing off against an approaching fleet of the Galactic Empire’s battle vehicles.
