Enjoy a vacation with your family or friends in comfort and style in this tiny home by Perch & Nest! There are thousands of mobile houses available on the market today. But none are as charming and cozy as Perch & Nest’s farmhouse-themed fleet! They currently have five farmhouse-themed tiny houses available for rent. And the Roost36 has become the company’s most popular and sought-after rental.
Spouses Tom and Johanna Elsner own Perch & Nest. They designed and built the Roost36 in NC together in 2017. Back then, they built the small farmhouse with the thought of it becoming their family’s little vacation getaway. And to achieve this feel, they gave the tiny house a look inspired by their 125-year-old homestead. The end result looked so good that it didn’t take long for it to catch the eye of the nation. Perch & Nest’s Roost36 in NC won as the Featured Tiny at the NC Tiny House festival. Soon after that, HGTV’s House Hunters dedicated an episode to the charming farmhouse. Many other media outlets have since featured the Perch & Nest’s flagship tiny home.

From the outside, Perch & Nest’s Roost36 in NC looks very much like a cozy house with large windows and a porch. The entire unit measures 36-feet long, 8.5-feet wide and 13.5-feet tall. Johanna, in the tour video, shared that the porch measures 8-feet and comes with retractable screens to keep summer insects like mosquitoes at bay. It’s decked with cedar, and already comes with a coffee table set where you can enjoy your morning cup or sip your cocktails in the evening. The screened porch is accessible through a panoramic door/wall that folds completely so you can fully enjoy the view of your getaway’s location.
The mini farmhouse comes fully furnished with lots of facilities to provide comfort to the guests. The living area has a plush three-seater couch that faces a large window “that looks out to nature”. There’s also a cleverly hidden television installed in the living area, so you won’t have to miss out on your favorite shows. Preparing your meals during your stay won’t be a problem either because its kitchenette comes equipped with a microwave, toaster, induction stove and a refrigerator. It also comes fitted with Quartz countertop and a deep single bowl sink.

Another feature that you’re sure to love is the full bathroom, that comes complete with a soaking tub! Who wouldn’t love soaking in a warm tub of water after a day of adventure in the great outdoors? Afterwards, you can rest up for the next day in the two lofts and nook. The Roost36 sleeps up to 4 people. One of the lofts comes with a queen-size bed, where two folks can comfortably share. Meanwhile, the other loft and nook (that the Elsners’ daughter fondly likens to Harry Potter’s bedroom under the Dursleys’ staircase) are fitted with a single-size bed.
This cozy tiny home will eventually become a permanent residence for the Elsner family after retirement. So, in order to keep it in tip top shape, they strictly forbid their AirBnB guests from bringing along pets, having parties and smoking inside the unit. If these conditions are alright with you, then you won’t have any problems booking this mini farmhouse for your vacation.
