Most of us would love to have salon-perfect hair 24/7. But, achieving it seems almost impossible. Well, the good news is, there’s an easy way to help make your hair all soft, sleek and shiny, without paying hundreds of bucks for a stylist. You just need to know how to wash and condition it properly. What? You already know how to do that? Surprisingly, not many of us actually do. So, take a look at the following steps, and see if you’ve been doing things the correct way!
We all want naturally healthy hair like the fine, soft strands we grew as a baby!
In fact, we don’t want baby hair at all, we want a mane that looks like this…
…and not like this!
Luckily there are some easy ways to care for your hair during your regular wash. First, brush it thoroughly before you wash it, with gentle strokes. This helps promote circulation in the scalp and helps prevent breakage.
Next, wet your hair thoroughly with warm water (not hot water) and apply a quarter-sized portion of shampoo to your hair. Massage all over, starting at the roots and working down to the ends.
Once it’s all nice and lathered, massage your scalp for at least two minutes. Massage firmly with fingertips in a circular motion. This emulsifies the shampoo, ensuring it works to its full potential.
It’s time to rinse, be sure to use lukewarm water, gently squeezing the hair until all traces of soap are removed. Remember to squeeze out as much excess water as you can before proceeding further.
Once as much water as possible has been squeezed out of your hair, apply your conditioner. Apply a large dollop of conditioner to the mid lengths of your hair, and gradually work it in down to the roots. This will help keep your hair nice and hydrated.
When you go to rinse out your conditioner, make sure to use cool water. This helps to seal the outer layers of your hair, protecting your hair from damage.
Either towel dry next, or use a dryer. If you’re blow drying, make sure to do it from root to tip as this helps keep the outer layers of your hair sealed. Never stop moving the hair dryer and don’t concentrate on one spot for too long, as this may lead to damage of your hair.
Now enjoy your salon perfect hair! Remember to repeat this washing process no more than 2-3 times per week, unless your hair is particularly oily.
