Renovating can be an extremely time consuming and expensive task, as people who attempt it themselves find out. Usually, you have to put in a lot of effort, and do things properly, if you want a top notch result. This post, however, proves that there's an exception to every rule and that it is possible to cut corners, and get away with it. Jess, from the DIY website 'Bright Green Door', cut corners when re-doing her bathroom countertop and it turned out awesome. The once-boring and dated surface now looks classy and modern! Take a look, and see how she did it!

BEFORE: It's not exactly awful, but this bathroom could do with a little sprucing up!
Firstly, Jess covered everything, except the countertop, in cheap plastic sheeting. She made sure to tap around the edges so that not even a tiny amount of paint could get through it.
Next thing to do was choose a spray paint. Jess chose the 'stone' effect paint, shown below. One can was enough for four coats!
While using the paint, Jess made sure to open the window and turn on the fan, as she didn't want to pass out from the fumes!
AFTER: Here's what the countertop looked like after the paint had dried, and the plastic was removed!
And, so you can see what we're talking about, here's the all-important close up! Voila! A cheap and easy way to renovate your bathroom to a showroom standard!
