Over the years many people have been wondering when the world’s first undersea resort is actually going to open. The Poseidon Underwater Resort in Fiji has taken (so far) 13 years to build…and it’s still not finished. It remains a mystery when it will actually be open and the owners seem to be keeping quiet about it all. They’re also being very secretive about how much this enormous project is costing. No bookings are being taken yet, but guests are welcome to sign up to the waiting list, and sure enough you’ll be waiting a very long time as there are already an estimated 150,000 people on that list. Should you be lucky enough to eventually be offered a reservation at the 5 star resort, you’ll have to be prepared to part with around $15,000 (£9,000) for the week! Perhaps it would be worth it when you know what this amazing place will have to offer…
This luxury hotel is 40 feet under the sea and is about a mile long. Guests will travel down a lift from the on land part of the resort. It is surrounded by a 5,000 acre lagoon with pristine waters filled with sea life. You can explore the nature either by scuba diving or taking a submarine ride, all available through the hotel. It will have 25 suites, each with the most breathtaking views from the floor-to-ceiling windows of colorful corals and exotic fish.
Guests will have access to all the luxuries a 5 star resort should have to offer, whether it’s below sea or above land. There will be 2 luxury restaurants, 1 underwater and one on land. There will be a library to relax in and a wedding chapel for the most amazing and unique wedding service. The resort will also have a swimming pool, a luxury spa, tennis courts and a 9-hole golf course.
Providing the planning and construction work continues, this resort really could be something out of this world.
